Do Elbows Really Matter?
Lets ask a rav and get back. If its halacha, then it matters........ 27
What I have learned is that it is a Halacha that women took upon themselves, because of the baggy shirts they wore when weaving and men were able to look in their shirts...etc. Just like men took upon themselves Maariv/Aravit, so too women took upoon themselves covering elbow.
Some communities do not hold by covering elbows, such as certain areas of Teaneck, and many Israelis too wear longer sleeves but do not cover elbows. So if many women are not holding by this Halacha does it make it binding anymore?
` Why would the elbow be an issue for us now-a-days?
If a shirt has sheer sleeves would it be considered appropriate to wear without something underneath it? What if it were a hot summer day?
